For the most part, Suzette and I ride to the store to pick up groceries. It’s about three miles round trip. I like to walk that route, too, but Suzette is willing to carry me and my bags. And I’m willing to let her. We don’t just ride to the store. Suzette and I also enjoy relaxing rides down country lanes where we see all sorts of flora and fauna.
Although we live in a rural area, there’s plenty of traffic. Many of the roads don’t have shoulders to ride on and even when they do, people like to ride close. We’ve had cars pull out in front of us and we’ve also had cars swerve too close. (Suzette gets rather indignant when she spies someone with a cell phone in hand while driving).
That’s why I was so happy to have the opportunity to review these EZ Grip Bike lights from LumenX. They’re marketed as an accessory for a kid’s bike, but let me tell you, Suzette and I like them just fine.
You’ll receive two lights in the package. They’re equipped with a long life battery and the light will shine constantly or blink in a flashing or strobe pattern as you like. The lights themselves are encased in a silicone body for water resistance. You won’t need any tools to mount the lights as the attachment is built into the design. Simply position the light, wrap the strap around the bike’s frame and secure. Put the white light in the front and the red light in the back and you’re good to go.
With the slow flash on, Suzette and I are more visible to other drivers in much the same way a motorcycle is more visible with their headlamp on. On days when we’re out and about and the sun is going down the constant setting helps light our way plus helps us stand out from the shadows that form at dusk.
EZ Grip Bike Lights by LumenX are a great investment for biking pairs like me and Suzette. She feels rather jaunty when we have them on. I feel much safer and ready to tackle heavily traveled roads with confidence.
