Two Savory Oatmeals
Serves: 2 servings
A fried egg on top is a nice touch, but not necessary to enjoy these deliciously different breakfasts.
For Two Servings of Oatmeal
  • 2 cups water or other liquid
  • 1 cup rolled or old fashioned oats
  • pinch salt
For the Asian Inspired Oats
  • 1 cup cooked edamame, shelled
  • 2 - 3 green onions sliced on the diagonal
  • 1 red chili per serving (optional)
  • splash of tamari, soy or sriracha if you're so inspired
For the Bacon and Tomato Oats
  • 2 slices cooked bacon, diced
  • handful of chopped cherry tomatoes
  • handful of chopped onions (I used already prepared caramelized onions)
  1. Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan.
  2. Add the oats and salt all at once and stir.
  3. Reduce the heat and continue to cook the oats until they're as you like them. Experiment with the amount and type of liquid use to change the flavor and texture of the oatmeal.
  4. Top with your choice of savory ingredients. Mix and match.
